Ballmerisms

I just read this quote in BusinessWeek from Steve Ballmer:

"If you take a look at where we're going with innovation, what we have in the pipeline, I'm very excited. The output of our innovation is great," says Ballmer. "We won the desktop. We won the server. We will win the Web. We will move fast, we will get there. We will win the Web."

Something in me says this guy doesn't get it. I see the web as a mix culture of hackers and users, researchers and students, consumers and vendors...basically a place where many different folks come to play. To move in and say you're going to win it sounds imposing and pathetic. You don't come in to play thinking you're going to own the sandbox! We learned that in preschool. I believe you need to play nicely with the kids and learn to share the toys to get anywhere.
